My name is Oscar Axelsson, and I am newly appointed Customer Success Manager for the Swedish Market.

Life at Mercell
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your role in Mercell?
My name is Oscar Axelsson, and I am newly appointed Customer Success Manager for the Swedish Market. The people I have with me in the team will play a very important role to really challenge ourselves on how we onboard new customers and how we help existing customers to succeed even better. We know there is a lot that we want to do, and it’s going to be a really exciting challenge to jump into. I’ve worked with the people in this team, and they have already taught me a lot, so it’s going to be a lot of fun.
What is the most important factor to help customers succeed, in your opinion?
That we all switch focus and mindset. Think about what was important 20 years ago. Is it still relevant? There is another way to do business with the public sector today, I think, and we need to stay relevant in that change. So that's something we need to embrace ourselves , but also encourage and support our customers to do so. And if we can get those two components - that's the swap mindset. And we will create bigger values for the customers, as well as stay relevant and succeed and reach all our goals and expectations.
What do you think a typical day will look like in your role?
I hope to be very operative in my role. I look forward to having the opportunity to help both the Customer Success Team and our customers to really start to make better business with the public sector. So my perfect day would be to talk to a lot of customers together with my team and find out what they need to succeed. How can our services work with our tools? The competency that we have in the team will definitely help, and that's when I enjoy myself the most at work and I think the team feels the same way.
Oscar's journey
I have been with Mercell for about two and a half years now. Prior to this, I worked for a large Swedish software company called Visma Commerce, which was acquired by Mercell in 2021 so I joined Mercell as a part of that merger. I was with Visma for about six years, and from the get-go I had the opportunity to both work with suppliers and buyers, which meant that I was able to help companies who wanted to participate and make better bids with the public sector. When I first joined Visma I worked in sales and handled some of our larger accounts on the supply side. After this I myself handled bids when we tried to sell our economy system and went on to a role as Product Marketing Manager. Before stepping into my new role I was working as Market Development Manager, where my focus was to get the sales, marketing and product teams to work even better together across borders.
A Mercellian outside of Mercell
I live in Halmstad, a small town in the south of Sweden, along with my partner and daughter. I’ve been an athlete all my life and have won a few national championships in tennis. I have also started competing in a sport called padel, which is very popular in Sweden right now. It started as a hobby but it turned out I was quite good at it so I’m excited to see where it takes me.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I’d love to have a small person in my brain who stops me when I talk too much. I get very enthusiastic and sometimes I feel like I need to pinch myself not to get too carried away.
