What is your role in Mercell going to be?
As Revenue Officer I look forward to working with the tremendous team of Mercillians, who have established strong positions in many markets in the G2B space. My focus will be on two streams:

(1) Ensure we perform to our set commercial growth targets, while we (2) transform our commercial strategy along a team defined roadmap, covering broad commercial aspects from brand perception all the way through to customer retention, positioning Mercell for market leadership in this business.

What drew you to Mercell?
Like everyone, I am selective in which company I join. I look for Key attributes in a company, which need to be matched:

• The company provides innovation in a clearly defined B2B market
• They are committed to true cloud-native SaaS. There are just so many benefits for customers and for us.
• A prime intention I look for is the aspiration to grow recurring revenue massively. It drives so much more value than ‘one off revenue’. I know I am preaching to the choir here.
• The company and solution allow for a large addressable market!
• And Mercell hits all those points perfectly!

You all at Mercell have done a tremendous job to build strong inroads into the Government/Public to Business space.

It is hard to get into Government, as it takes so much time, it takes local trusted and native compatible relationships to get the trust of Government/Public organizations!

Let’s put that in perspective. When building the business at Ariba from the ground up (I was employee no. 4), I could not afford to focus on government as a segment, it would have taken too long. But YOU have taken the diligence to build out this special audience on a country by country basis, resulting in a great and large market you can now address! I know SAP-Ariba and others have taken several attempts in G2B, but did not succeed. The difference is the dedication you at Mercell apply to this. And this is where we at Mercell will win.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
- "Hire the best, especially when they are better than us."
- This way we all continuously grow and keep our egos low.

What is the weirdest fact you know?
I struggled with ‘weird facts’, but instead I think about an ‘impressive fact’: Space Probe Voyager 2 is 12 Billion Miles away from us. That is 18 Light Hours away. I am fascinated by this dimension of a man-made product so far away from Earth, - even if that is an extremely short dimension in Space.

Your favorite line or quote from a song / movie / poem?
I am not quoting something directly. What I believe in life is, that attitude drives absolutely everything!

The right attitude will define happiness and success in life and business, or then not.

Subsequently I fully subscribe to the quote of Charles Swindoll on Attitude. To my friends I say, look up his quote.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
I could not choose. So many desires to solve world issues. But on the egoistic side, maybe the ability to fly around like a bird would be my favorite choice.
